The Croatian Ombuds institution – Pučka pravobraniteljica – the nominated authority to receive and provide oversight of the new whistleblower protection framework has published Guidance on Whistleblowing.

Croatian Ombudswoman Tena Šimonović Einwalter issued the new Guide – “Vodič za prijavitelje nepravilnosti” which aims to increase both the number and quality of whistleblowing reports in Croatia by fostering a clearer understanding of the legal framework.

The guide provides a detailed overview of the internal, external, and public reporting channels while emphasising available anti-retaliation protections and outlining the responsibilities of employers and compliance officers in maintaining safe reporting channels.

The new publication was launched at an event featuring contributions from public officials and experts in whistleblower protection. The speakers discussed the importance of transparency and safeguarding public interest in Croatia’s compliance with EU standards. They also highlighted the role of this guide in promoting a culture of accountability, encouraging organisations to facilitate secure reporting environments.
