The Ministry of Justice in Bulgaria has published a draft whistleblower protection Bill to transpose the EU Directive 2019/ 1937 on whistleblowing and has announced public consultation on the proposal.
The proposed legislation – which translates as “Protection of Persons Submitting Signals and Reporting Publicly Information About Wrongdoing Act” has been issued with an explanatory memorandum, impact assessment and summary of previous consultation on the transposition. Along with the draft law, the Minstry of Justice also published the motives (reasoning) to the bill, the ex-ante impact assessment, and the summary of the previous public consultation last year.
