The Garda Sรญochรกna Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has called on the Government in Ireland to pass legislation which will give better protection of whistleblowers and introduce a new dedicated office to handle whistleblowing.
Ireland must transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into national law which requires significant reforms of the current Public Disclosure Act legislation adopted in 2014.
GSOC is currently hosting a two day virtual conference of the NEIWA Network (of European Integrity and Whistleblowing Agencies) which have published recommendations on the implementation of the Directive across all 27 Member of the EU.
