A new proposal to reform France’s whistleblower protection framework is progressing through Parliament. The Bill, filed by the former rapporteur on whistleblower protection at the Council of Europe, MP Sylvain Waserman, is currently under review by the “Commission des lois” as of Wednesday 20 October 2021.
The draft law will undergo three rounds of parliamentary hearings before an official opinion is issued on 10 November 2021. The Bill will then be voted on in the National Assembly on November 15 and then be passed to a vote in the Senate.
NGO Maison des Lanceurs d’Alerte are following transposition and advocating for a robust implementation of the law to effectively protect whistleblowers in practice.
