The European Commission Representation in Romania recently held a practical workshop together on the topic of protecting integrity whistleblowers, according to information posted online.
The workshop, which is fully funded by the EU, was part of a broader project supporting the implementation of the integrity and anti-corruption framework, including reducing the risk of corruption in public procurement.
The National Integrity Agency and the Ministry of Justice requested and are receiving technical support from the Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG #REFORM) and the implementation is being carried out in cooperation with the OECD.
Romania adopted new legislationโLaw 361/2022โon December 16, 2022, making it the 17th country among the 27 EU Member States to transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into its national legal framework. Ensuring the effective implementation of these new rules will require continued technical assistance, capacity building, and awareness-raising activities to support compliance and protect whistleblowers.
