The Slovakian Office for the Protection of Whistleblowers (Úrad na ochranu
oznamovateľov, ÚOO) has published a new resource for individuals considering reporting misconduct. The new manual, titled “Everything you need to know before your whistleblow” provides a guide on whistleblower protections and reporting processes in Slovakia, compiling essential information into a single, accessible document.
Designed to answer common questions and clarify procedures, the guide covers key aspects of the reporting process, from understanding whistleblower protections under the law to the rights and obligations of those who report. The ÚOO’s publication aims to empower whistleblowers with guidance on how to file reports and how their cases are handled by authorities. It also explains protections available to whistleblowers, including anonymity options, legal safeguards against retaliation, and the steps the ÚOO takes in evaluating and following up on reports of misconduct.
According to the ÚOO, this initiative addresses a critical need for straightforward information, particularly as more individuals seek secure ways to report illegal or unethical behaviour in their workplaces.
