New law to transpose EU Directive on whistleblowing unlikely during the current parliament

Portugal’s Minister of Justice, Francisca Van Dunem, has announced that  a new draft Law to protect whistleblowers is ‘unlikely to pass in this parliament.’ Van Dunem stated that due to the European elections on 26 May and the general election on 6 October, there was little time for Parliament in Lisbon to transpose the Directive and progress any law through all necessary legislative stages.
