Italian newspaper Il Sole has reported that the legislative decree for the transposition of the Directive is now ready.
Experts are concerned about the lack of transparency and inclusiveness of the process to date. A progress report by Transparency International and the Whistleblowing International Network found that Italy had made minimal progress in the transposition of the Directive which must be fully completed by the 17 December 2021.
Giorgio Frashcini, Whistleblowing Programme Manager at Transparency International Italia said:
“Reports in the media of draft legislation being available is quite surprising given no proposal has been officially published and the drafting of the proposal appears to have taken place behind closed doors. We are keen to learn more as soon as possible.”
