A draft whistleblower protection law has published in Slovenia and sent to stakeholders for consultation.
The new legislation will transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into national law. The official deadline for the Directive to be fully implemented is the 17 December 2021. Consultation ends on 23 December 2021.
Analysis of the government proposal and approach to implementation will now be underway. Anti-corruption and whistleblowing protection experts have been campaigning for EU Member States to introduce protections more progressive than the Directive to transposition and it has been unclear until now what approach Slovenia will take.
