Ministry for Justice reveals plans for the transposition of EU Directive on whistleblowing

In a response to the 2019 Corruption Perception Index, the Ministry of Justice revealed its plans for whistleblower protection reform. The published document states that the Ministry emphasises the importance of whistleblowers for corruption prevention and that it will aim to fully protect them from retaliation.

The ministry also stated that it plans to establish a working group from representatives from several members of the government (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry for Economic Development) and other relevant institutions.

The statement said that the draft law should be expected by the end of 2020, while a comprehensive public debate is planned for early 2021.
