A new whistleblowing law to transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing as been adopted in Latvia.
The Latvian Saeima approved the law, which seeks to transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into Latvian national law – during it’s final reading on the 20 January 2022. It will come into force on the 4 February 2022.
The new framework expands the scope of the Directive to protect not just reports of breaches of Union law, but also national illegality and unethical behaviour.
