Progress of a new draft whistleblowing law has been delayed in Finland. The draft proposal was originally expected to be presented in Parliament in September but has been twice delayed and is now not estimated until the second week of December. The new law would implement the new EU Directive on whistleblowing (2019/1937) must be fully transposed before the 17th of December 2021; therefore, it is unlikely Finland will meet this deadline which will create a complicated situation for persons blowing the whistle on wrongdoing in Europe.
